AFGE Local 1411 September Awareness & Advocacy: Suicide Prevention, Recovery, Alzheimer’s & Childhood Cancer

Suicide Prevention Month

This September, AFGE Local 1411 joins the national observance of Suicide Prevention Month, recognizing the urgent need to break stigma and strengthen mental health resources. We encourage members to check in with one another, know the warning signs, and seek available support services. Together, we can promote awareness and create a workplace where mental health is treated with the same priority as physical safety.

National Recovery Month

We also observe National Recovery Month, honoring the courage of individuals overcoming substance use disorders and celebrating the support systems that help them thrive. AFGE Local 1411 reaffirms our commitment to advocating for policies that provide access to treatment, resources, and recovery-friendly workplaces for federal employees.

World Alzheimer’s Month

September is World Alzheimer’s Month, a time to raise awareness about dementia and support those impacted, including caregivers and family members. AFGE Local 1411 stands with members whose lives are touched by Alzheimer’s, promoting compassion, education, and advocacy for research and resources.

Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

This month also shines a light on Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, reminding us of the resilience of children and families facing pediatric cancer. AFGE Local 1411 honors their fight and calls for continued advocacy, research, and support programs that make a difference in their lives.
